Anthony turned SIX?!?!
Wow. It's hard to believe that Anthony is really SIX. He had an excellent birthday, spending 6 hours at teh Children's Discovery Museum with Chas, Starks, Mommy, and Daddy.
Everything there was relevant and interesting to each of the boys. Anthony explored every square inch of the museum. Chas hung in there, despite major sleepy-headedness, and was especially interested in the water, tennis balls, and bubbles.
Starks LOVED the water. In fact, I wrung out his clothes and had an attendant dry them in a dryer for me! He was in absolute heaven with his two favorite things in the world- balls and water!
Anthony requested "California Pizza Kitchen" for dinner, where Chas proceeded to fall asleep on the bench while we ate dinner and dessert. As I said before, it was a packed day full of constant thought and activity at the Museum! Anthony thought the day was perfect.
For his birthday party, he asked for a "Space" theme. so we pulled the cars out of the garage and converted it into a party room! The pictures don't do it justice, as the garage was dark with just a glow. But, imagine... black lights, glow in the dark stars on black fabric hiding shelves, entire floor covered in paper, sun and planets hanging from the ceiling, and facts posted everywhere! Did you know that all 8 planets- plus Pluto- could fit inside Jupiter at the same time? Or that Saturn could float in water? Or that Venus is hotter than Mercury, though it's not the closest to the sun? The kids all learned these facts and more. However, we couldn't think of anagram to replace "My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas" now that there's no "pizza" to be the 9th planet, so we had 8 pizzas! The kids all decorated a "spaceship", drew on the floor with highlighters- they glow under black lights, hit a pinata, had a silly string fight, and went through about 40 confetti poppers! (Clean up was easy as we just had to pull up the paper with everything on it and throw it all away! Anthony loved it all, and he had about 22 friends over to celebrate and play. All of them played so well together, and the house was left relatively together! That's a big thanks to Amy and Rachel for helping to put away toys upstairs. ;) Last, Anthony opened gifts. He got his beloved Moon Sand that he has wanted since memorizing the commercial, a telescope, lots of craft things he loves, books, clothes, legos, and so much more! He was very thankful of it all, and he was thrilled to end the evening with four of his friends staying the night. It was his First Sleepover! The evening went well, and all enjoyed french toast, bacon and fruit for breakfast!
The party was such a great time, and it couldn't have happened without the help of Russ and our friends. Everyone just filled in gaps and helped so much. It was just awesome! I'd say 18 of those 22 kids were boys! :) Life is so good.
